Vivienne Foley
Director of Support and Rehabilitation

Viv brings tremendous valuable experience, having managed an Animal Care Centre in North Wales for 10 years.

“I’ve always adored owls,” says Viv, “but the macramé owl has stolen my heart from a very early age.”

“My first ‘encounter’ with a macramé owl was one of complete and utter joy,” recalls Viv, in a moment of reminiscing.

“My mother had lovingly adopted a small Dotty Spotty Macramé Owlet which I could hang around my neck as a talisman and I thought it was wonderful! From then on, my love of all things Macramé Owl has grown beyond belief. It truly is a way of life”.

“My absolute triumph and miracle was to meet up with Annie, who has now also embraced the love, enthusiasm and overwhelming devotion for the Macramé Owl. Together we want to succeed in bringing back the majestic Macramé Owl from the verge of extinction.”

Annie learned to appreciate and value the macramé owl much later in life.

“For years, I thought they were goofy and silly. I dread to think I may have shunned a macramé owl or two along the path of my life. When I met Viv, and learned of her reverence for the macramé owl, I began to see through her eyes, the beauty and magnificence that these wonderful creatures imbue. I’m hooked!”

Annie has since made it her priority to do all she can to save the macramé owl and aid its plight.

“I want the macramé owl to be around for future generations to enjoy… or endure… like we did, in the 60s and 70s.”

Working as a Team
Viv and Annie are pictured here with Sherman, one of our success stories. Read about his rescue.

Viv says macra’mé owl, and Annie says ma’cramé owl. Both pronunciations are correct.

With Viv’s sensitivity to macramé owl issues, and Annie’s skills at spreading the word, together they are determined to save… nay, revive!… the glorious and majestic Macramé Owl!

Disclaimer

Yes. We are doing this partly for fun and humour. We’re just as passionate about laughing and making others laugh, as we are about macramé owls. While most of what we say on this website is tongue-in-cheek, we can assure you, we are very serious about macramé owls. There really is a Sanctuary, we really do rescue macramé owls, you really can adopt one, and likewise all our information originates from factual data (though we admit, we do have a tendency to embellish).
